What it involves

An identity check through a third party provider. You photograph a government issued document and take a live selfie, on their secure flow rather than ours. It takes a couple of minutes.

We never see the document. The provider holds it and sends us a pass or a fail plus a reference token. There is no document image, no ID number and no date of birth in our database, so there is nothing of that kind for us to lose if we were ever breached.

What it unlocks

• Your listings publish immediately instead of waiting for moderator review.
• A Verified badge on your profile and on every listing you run.
• Eligibility for the Trusted Seller tier once you have a sales record.
• Your listings appear when buyers filter to verified sellers only, which many do by default.

Before you start

Confirm your email and your phone number first, since both are required before listing anyway. You can do the phone step now at your phone settings.

Note that a flagged serial number still sends a listing to review even for verified sellers. Verification buys you speed, not a bypass on the theft check.

Not available yet

Identity verification goes live with the payments release. Until then, listings from unverified sellers are reviewed by a moderator, usually within a day. Everything else on this page describes how it will work when it launches.
