Community

This started as a group of photographers.

The marketplace exists because a community needed it, not the other way round.

Where it began

A Facebook group of 38,000 photographers buying and selling gear among themselves. It worked because people knew each other, and it broke down at exactly the point where they did not.

This site is the part of that group we could make safer: verified identities, recorded serials, proof of ownership, and prices grounded in real market data.

How to take part

  • Take the free course. It is genuinely free, there is no upsell at the end, and it is the best thing to send a friend who just bought their first camera.
  • List the gear on your shelf. Somebody wants the lens you have not touched in a year.
  • Report bad listings. Community moderation catches things automation misses.
  • Leave honest feedback after a trade. The reputation system only works if people use it.

What we are building next

Member reviews on gear pages, so the catalogue carries experience from people who actually own the equipment rather than scraped text from elsewhere. A fair price checker reading live market data. On platform checkout with payment held until delivery confirms.

If you want to shape any of that, tell us at [email protected].
