Accessibility statement

What we have built in

• Semantic HTML with proper landmarks and a skip link on every page.
• Full keyboard operation, with a visible focus ring that meets contrast requirements.
• Colour contrast that meets or exceeds AA for body text and interface elements.
• Text that reflows and remains readable when zoomed to 200 percent.
• Alternative text on meaningful images, and diagrams with descriptions a screen reader can read.
• Forms with real labels, error messages tied to their field, and no reliance on colour alone.
• Motion that respects your operating system reduced motion setting.

The accessibility controls

The button at the bottom of every page opens controls for text size, high contrast, a dark theme, dyslexia friendly text, extra spacing, link highlighting, reduced motion, a larger cursor and a reading ruler. Your choices are remembered in your browser and applied before the page paints, so there is no flash of unstyled content.

We consider that widget an aid, not a substitute. A site that needs a widget to be usable is a site that was built wrong.

Known limitations

Being honest is more useful than claiming perfection.

• Photographs uploaded by sellers may have unhelpful alternative text, because it is generated from the listing title. We are working on prompting sellers to describe their images.
• Machine translation through the language selector is not reviewed by a human and may read awkwardly.
• Some third party embeds we add later may not meet the same standard, and we will note them here if so.
