Binding on every member

The rules every trade runs on.

These rules bind buyers and sellers to each other. Listing an item or contacting a seller means you accept them. They are deliberately specific, because vague rules cannot be enforced.

How these rules work

Our terms of service govern your relationship with us. These rules govern your relationship with the other member. When you list an item or contact a seller, you enter a direct agreement with that person on the terms below.

We are not a party to that agreement. We do enforce these rules on our own platform through warnings, listing removal, badge removal, suspension and permanent bans.

Seller obligations

1. You own it and can legally sell it. You must have clear title. Listing stolen goods, items under a lien, or equipment belonging to an employer or client is grounds for immediate permanent ban and a report to law enforcement.

2. The item exists and is in your possession. No listing items you have not yet received, are waiting to be repaired, or intend to buy elsewhere to fulfil the order.

3. Photographs are yours and current. Taken by you, of this exact item, within the last thirty days. Manufacturer images, review site photographs and images from other listings are prohibited.

4. Description is complete and honest. You must disclose every known fault, every cosmetic mark beyond normal wear, all repair and service history, any non original parts, water or impact damage, and anything that affects function. Omission counts as misrepresentation.

5. The serial number matches. The serial you record must be the serial on the item you ship. Shipping a different unit than the one advertised is fraud, not a mistake.

6. Condition grade is applied honestly using our published definitions, not your own generous interpretation.

7. You will ship within three business days of cleared payment, with tracking, adequately packed. Anything containing glass must be double boxed with at least two inches of cushioning on every side.

8. You honour the listed price. No raising it after a buyer commits, and no cancelling because a better offer arrived.

Buyer obligations

1. Only commit if you intend to buy. Agreeing a purchase and then disappearing wastes a seller's time and holds their item off the market.

2. Pay within two business days of agreeing terms, using a method with buyer protection.

3. Inspect on arrival and report fast. You have three calendar days from delivery to report a material discrepancy. Keep the packaging, photograph the parcel unopened, and film the unboxing on anything high value.

4. Return the same item. If a return is agreed, you return the exact unit you received with the matching serial, complete, in the condition it arrived. Swapping in a faulty unit of the same model is fraud.

5. Do not weaponise disputes. Filing a not as described claim over normal wear that was disclosed, or over buyer's remorse, is abuse of the process and gets accounts banned.

Condition grades, defined

These definitions bind both sides. A dispute over condition is judged against them, not against opinion.

  • Like new. Indistinguishable from boxed stock. No marks under close inspection. Complete with original packaging and accessories.
  • Excellent. Very light signs of careful use. No marks visible at arm's length. Fully functional, glass clear.
  • Good. Visible cosmetic wear consistent with regular use. All functions correct. Glass free of fungus, haze and separation.
  • Fair. Heavy cosmetic wear, or a disclosed functional quirk that does not prevent use. Everything must still be stated explicitly.
  • For parts. Not fully functional. The specific faults must be listed. Sold with no expectation of working order.

Fungus, haze, lens separation, sensor damage, non functioning autofocus, water damage and shutter faults must always be disclosed regardless of grade, and disqualify anything above Fair.

Prohibited conduct

Any of the following can result in immediate removal and a permanent ban.

  • Listing stolen, counterfeit or replica equipment.
  • Using photographs you did not take, or images of a different unit.
  • Recording a serial number that does not match the item shipped.
  • Shell listings intended to harvest contact details or move buyers off site.
  • Demanding an irreversible payment method such as bank transfer, Zelle, wire, gift card, cryptocurrency or PayPal Friends and Family.
  • Shill bidding, fake feedback, or operating multiple accounts to manufacture reputation.
  • Retaliatory or extortionate feedback, including threatening negative feedback to extract a discount.
  • Harassment, discriminatory language or threats toward another member.
  • Sharing another member's personal information.
  • Circumventing a suspension by creating a new account.

Trading off platform

Completing a trade off platform to avoid our protections is prohibited. It is also the single most common precursor to a scam, which is why the rule exists.

Moving a conversation to email or text after contact is normal and allowed. Being asked to abandon the platform before you have seen the item, or being told the price is better if you pay another way, is a warning sign and should be reported.

Members who trade off platform forfeit any assistance from us if it goes wrong. We cannot investigate what we cannot see.

Returns and refunds

Private party sales are final unless the item is materially not as described. There is no general right to change your mind, and sellers are not obliged to accept remorse returns.

Materially not as described means: an undisclosed fault, a different model or configuration, a serial mismatch, missing items that were listed as included, or damage not shown in the photographs.

Where that applies, the expected resolution is a full refund on return of the item, with return shipping paid by the seller. Where the discrepancy is minor and the buyer wishes to keep the item, a partial refund by agreement is reasonable.

Damage in transit is a carrier claim, filed by whoever bought the label. This is one reason we require tracking and recommend insurance on anything of value.

Disputes, and the order to do things in

Step one, contact the other member. Most problems are honest mistakes and resolve in a message. Allow two business days for a reply.

Step two, open a claim with your payment provider. Do this promptly, because their time limits are strict and they are the mechanism that actually recovers money. We cannot do this for you and we cannot compel a refund.

Step three, report it to us at [email protected] with the listing, the messages and any photographs. We will investigate and act on our platform: removing listings, stripping badges, logging identifiers, and banning accounts.

Be clear about what we can and cannot do. We can remove a bad actor from this marketplace and make it harder for them to return. We cannot recover your money, seize goods, or arbitrate who is right. Your payment provider does the first, and the courts do the rest.

Enforcement

We apply proportionate consequences and we keep a record. Repeat conduct escalates.

  • Warning for a first minor breach, such as a weak description or slow shipping.
  • Listing removal for rule breaking content, with the reason given.
  • Badge removal where conduct undermines the trust the badge represents.
  • Suspension pending investigation, during which live listings are withdrawn.
  • Permanent ban for fraud, stolen goods, serial mismatch, or repeated breaches. Identifiers go into our scammer log and serials onto the watchlist.

We do not owe a member a warning before acting where the conduct is serious. Where money or safety is at risk we act first and explain afterwards.

Evidence, and how to protect yourself

Disputes are won on records. Both sides should keep them.

  • Sellers: photograph the serial number, photograph the item packed before sealing, keep the tracking receipt, and keep every message on platform.
  • Buyers: photograph the parcel before opening, film the unboxing on high value items, and report discrepancies within the three day window rather than after using the item for a fortnight.

A member who cannot produce basic evidence will find a dispute goes against them, both with us and with their payment provider.

Changes

These rules may change. Material changes are announced to registered members before taking effect, and the date at the top always reflects the current version. Trades already agreed are judged against the rules in force when they were agreed.
