Where this came from

A Facebook group of 38,000 photographers, buying and selling gear among themselves. It worked, mostly. But the same two questions came up under every post: is this seller real, and is this price fair.

Nobody could answer either one. You judged a stranger from a profile photo and you priced from a half remembered sale you saw once. That is a bad way to move thousands of dollars of equipment, and it is why plenty of people never sold gear that was sitting unused on a shelf.

What we do differently

Sellers put a name behind the listing. Email confirmed, phone confirmed and not an internet line, and an identity check for the verified badge. That is real friction for a scammer and thirty seconds for everybody else.

Every listing carries proof. A photograph of the actual item beside a handwritten note with the seller name and the date. It defeats the oldest trick in used gear fraud, which is a listing assembled from review site photographs.

Serial numbers are recorded. Checked against a watchlist, masked in public, and given to the buyer on purchase so the item that arrives can be matched to the one advertised.

Prices come from data. Our fair price checker reads real market comparables and returns three numbers with the sample size attached, so you can see how much to trust them.

What we are not

We do not hold inventory, inspect gear, or take possession of anything. We are not a party to your transaction and we do not guarantee member trades. Saying so plainly matters more to us than sounding bigger than we are.

What we remove is the anonymity and the guesswork. The rest stays between two people who now know a great deal more about each other than they would anywhere else.

Every brand, not just one

The community that started this was Canon focused, and Canon still has the deepest inventory here. But the catalogue covers Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, OM System, Pentax, Leica, Hasselblad, Blackmagic and third party glass from Sigma, Tamron and others, plus lighting, support, audio and the accessories that go with them.
